The more energy exerted from the environment, the less energy has to be inserted to the heating system. That is why it is necessary to open buildings to the south with large windows in
order to let the winter sun into the room as far as possible.
In the north, however, the building should have as few and small openings. This is because generally more energy lost through windows than through walls. Only in the south that heat losses are compensated and negated by solar heat gains. |
